What Are the Different Kinds of Tracks Garage Door Installers Fit?
There are 2 kinds of garage door tracks that professional
work with, however, each one has its own variations. The first is a vertical track used for overhead doors which are opened upwards. Sliding door tracks are the other kind and are used for doors which open sideways. Vertical tracks can differ depending on the door being used.
Vertical garage door track is available in 3 styles. The most common one is known as a standard lift track. This runs vertically and curves in a horizontal direction to the inside of a garage. Standard lift tracks are often used for a
canopy
and retractable doors. A canopy is one that opens outwards.
These can often be seen in industrial or commercial settings too.
In
such cases, one
part is
similar to a standard lift track. A second vertical lift track is above this first, but, is set slightly back. This spacing gives more room for the spring assembly, this adds lift strength and makes these heavier doors much easier to open and close.
The third type is called a high lift system, these can be seen in many residential settings that have garages with high ceilings. This uses a combination of standard and vertical lift. With a high lift, the vertical track will connect with a short horizontal track, and to a second vertical track.
Sliding garage doors come with 2 horizontal tracks, one is at the top and the other is on the bottom. These are used mainly on panel doors that have hinges which enable them to bend or fold onto the walls of a garage. Doors which use sliding tracks will not place any extra weight on the ceiling of the garage.
